Field Gas Screening Before Laboratory DGA on Transformers

The DGA lab queue at a large CHP or plant substation can span weeks. Field gas screening with Rapidox does not replace IEC 60599 but gives priority before the full chromatograph report.

Tools: Rapidox 1100 on conservators, Rapidox 3100 on headspace above oil samples.

Walk-down (half day): load + oil T → O₂ on conservator → headspace CO/CO₂ if oil sampled → green / yellow / red → expedite lab for red, plan repair for yellow O₂-only rise.

Combine with bay monitoring, cooling vibration and DGA companion methods.

Scope: power plants and industrial MV — not oil & gas.
