Integrated Monitoring of CHP Transformer Bays: Rapidox, Vibration and Ultrasound

A CHP transformer bay is transformer, breakers, cooling and switchgear in one reliability loop. How to unify Rapidox (SF₆, O₂, Clean Air), Bently on oil pumps and SDT for partial discharges in one procedure.

⚠️ EN version — draft. Ready to publish once kk/en routing (i18n) is implemented across the site.

At a CHP plant, the step-up transformer bay includes the tank and cooling, line and bus breakers (often SF₆ or GIS), bushings and enclosed switchgear rooms. Failure of any element removes the transformer from service — with the same block derating impact as auxiliary pump trips.

Monitoring matrix:

Component Method KEG TRK
Internal faults DGA Lab / online DGA
Oil pumps, fans Vibration trend 3500/42M
Bushings Partial discharge SDT340
SF₆ breakers Gas quality Rapidox 6100
Clean Air cells O₂, humidity Clean Air Pumpback
Enclosed GIS room SF₆, O₂ Fixed Detection

Rollout: baseline (DGA, gas samples, O₂, vibration spectra, ultrasound) → continuous vs periodic layers → dispatcher integration via DCS and System 1.

See also DGA companions and cooling vibration. Scope: power generation; not oil & gas.
