Overview
The EPOCH 650 is a portable ultrasonic flaw detector from Olympus (now the Evident brand) for inspecting welds, plate, forgings and pressure vessels. It combines a tunable square-wave pulser up to 400 V with a wide receiver bandwidth and a standard set of defect sizing tools: DGS/AVG, DAC/TCG and AWS.

Pulser and receiver
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Pulse | square wave, 100 / 200 / 300 / 400 V |
| Pulse width | 25–5000 ns |
| PRF | 10–2000 Hz |
| Bandwidth | 0.2–26.5 MHz |
| Filters | 30 sets, 7 to ISO 22232-1:2020 |
| Gates | 2 independent |
Defect sizing
- DGS/AVG — equivalent reflector size.
- DAC/TCG — up to 50 points, 110 dB dynamic range.
- AWS D1.1 and D1.5 — weld rating to the American standard.
All three are included as standard.
