Where it is used
Typical tasks
- Aircraft skin inspection after impact or collision
- Pre-flight and line checks of composite panels
- Checks after a dropped tool hits a composite part
- First screening before detailed inspection
Overview
The 35RDC is a simple ultrasonic instrument from Olympus (now the Evident brand) for finding hidden impact damage in solid laminate aircraft composite structures. After an impact there may be no visible mark, yet a delamination is already present inside. The 35RDC shows this immediately: Good, Bad or Beyond CAL.

How it works
- The instrument is calibrated on an undamaged area of the same part.
- The operator places the 5 MHz transducer on the area to check.
- If a reflection arrives earlier than from the back wall, there is a delamination inside and the instrument shows Bad.
Deviation thresholds from the calibration are programmable. Advanced mode offers an A-scan.
Technical specifications
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
