Overview
The SF6 Leakmate is a portable SF6 leak detector from the British company Ion Science. It is a straightforward tool for finding SF6 leaks on switchgear: switch on, wait for the automatic zero and run the probe along the joints.
It uses a high voltage ionisation sensor. The Leakmate automatically compensates for temperature and air movement, which makes it suitable for outdoor substations where wind disturbs simpler detectors.
How it works
- 355 mm flexible probe reaches flanges and bushings behind bay structures.
- LED bar graph shows leak size: small, medium or large.
- Audio tone changes in proportion to the leak.
- Selectable sensitivity for finding a large leak or checking a single joint.
- Automatic zero and battery test at switch-on.
