Overview
The 45MG is an ultrasonic thickness gauge from Olympus (now the Evident brand). It measures wall thickness from one side, with no access to the back surface, which makes it suitable for corrosion monitoring on pipes, vessels and tanks and for checks after machining.
The base version works with dual element transducers. Features are added as options when needed: measurement through coatings, single element transducers, high penetration, waveform display and data logging.

Software options
| Option | What it adds |
|---|---|
| EETC | Echo-to-Echo and THRU-COAT — measurement through paint |
| SE | single element transducers, 0.001 mm resolution |
| HP | high penetration single element transducers, 0.5–30 MHz |
| WF | waveform display |
| DL | data logger: 475,000 readings or 20,000 waveforms, GageView software |
Technical specifications
| Parameter | Value |

Other thickness gauges
When the 45MG is not enough, see the 38DL PLUS. For simple corrosion checks, the 27MG. To find defects in welds you need a flaw detector such as the EPOCH 650.
